Today J.Crew introduced a few new features on their website. The one that will affect most people is the introduction of a flat-rate shipping, which I am excited about! J.Crew's shipping before this was based on how much your order was, and sometimes it was through the roof to ship tiny things ($14.95 to ship a featherweight cashmere sweater???).
$8.95 flat-rate, or free shipping for purchases over $175 seems pretty reasonable. I love this because it's applied automatically, which frees up the coupon code section to use for other discounts. Before, if there were conflicting free shipping or 20% off codes, you'd have to do the math and figure out which was better financially. I personally prefer a flat rate - although I do wish it was a bit lower!! And let's be honest - I'll be taking advantage of the free shipping for orders over $175 a lot more often than the $8.95 rate. I love ordering a few different sizes to try on, and then returning the misses to my local J.Crew at the mall.
Also - a huge update to their final sale section. Some picks:
Jenny dress - $29.99, marked down from $78. I own this dress in charcoal and it's really versatile. However - size down! I'm usually a 4/6 and I took it in a 2, and probably could have even gone with a 0.
Zadie dress in silk chiffon - $49.99/$69.99, marked down from $250. I haven't tried this on but love the colors and the shape. I think in a darker color it could be great for winter parties, or even New Year's Eve.
Katie colorblock cami - $19.99, marked down from $69.50
Boy shirt in ikat madras - $49.99, marked down from $79.50. Not a huge markdown but I love the colors in the madras!
Any thoughts on what a "reasonable" flat-rate shipping cost is?
